National Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists
The National Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists is a membership organization devoted to advancing the unique expertise and values the clinical nurse specialist brings to delivering high-quality, evidence-based, patient-centered care and reducing the cost of health care delivery. NACNS has more than 2,000 members and represents the 89,000 clinical nurse specialists working in hospitals and health systems, clinics and ambulatory settings and colleges and universities today.
One of our own was recently honored posthumously for her work as a CNS here in the Commonwealth. Michelle Defabio, DNP, MS, RN, ACNS-BC, NEA-BC, NPD-BC was awarded the Brenda Lyon Leadership Award at the national NACNS conference in New Orleans for her work in promoting the role of the CNS within the state.
Michelle was actively involved in the PA Affiliate of NACNS as well as other organizations where she used her voice to raise awareness of the licensure and practice issues surrounding our role here in Pennsylvania. Many thanks to Eric Piasecki, our affiliate President, who accepted the award on her behalf.
